The Indian Army eliminated an infiltration bid under operation Bandi Nala in Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
In the ensuing intense firefight, all the three terrorists were injured. Once the firing had ceased, own troops started a deliberate search operation of the area. The search was a daunting task as the area is thickly mined, has dense undergrowth and boulders and the ground is undulating. As the search operation progressed at 1300hrs, initially body of one dead terrorist with weapon was recovered. Subsequently, as the operation progressed towards the Line of Control, another weapon with bullet mark and numerous other war like stores were recovered and also a blood trail was observed, leading towards the Line of Control.
During the search operations the following war like stores were recovered : Two AK-74 Rifles along with four Magazines and 43 rounds, One Chinese Pistol with seven rounds and one Magazine,One Claymore Mine along with cable and battery, One SMG Magazine, One Bag, One Pouch, Combat Colour, One cigarette packet of Gold Cup Brand made in Pakistan along with lighter and One small packet of contraband material (likely for self-consumption).
Addressing media persons today Army Commander, Brig. Rajesh Bisht and DIG Rajouri-Poonch, Dr Haseeb informed that on November 3 (Thursday) at approximately, 9:30pm own alert troops observed a suspicious movement of three infiltrators in Pathani Suit who were trying to sneak across the Line of Control, in Nakarkot area of Poonch Sector(J&K). When the infiltrators were challenged by own troops, they opened heavy volume of fire onto own troops.
With this, the security forces have successfully eliminated a major infiltration bid in Poonch sector and thwarted the nefarious designs of the western adversary to vitiate the peace in Poonch and Rajouri Sectors. The security forces continue to remain alert on the Line of Control to counter any attempt by inimical forces to disturb the peace and harmony in this region.
