Clipping its wings for adopting dual yardsticks in handling on terrorism its soil, the United Nations Security Councils (UNSC) kept Pakistan away from a crucial meeting on Afghanistan, aftermath of repeated attacks by the Taliban. Though in an attempt to save its face, the Pakistan Foreign Office has expressed resentment for not being invited in the meeting.
Pakistan issued a statement that despite being the closest neighbour of Afghanistan, he was not provided a space in the meeting on the situation of Afghanistan. In the meeting held under Indian Presidency, India advocated that to establish peace in Afghanistan, it is important to destroy the terrorist safe heavens in the region and disrupt the terrorist supply chain. Pakistan’s support to terrorist organisations was also condemned by Afghanistan at the meeting. The permanent representative of Afghanistan Ghulam Isaczai at UN stated that Pakistan continues to provide safe haven and logistical support to the Taliban.
