In an incident at the Village administration office in Annur Taluk of Coimbatore district, a Dalit assistant village administrative officer falls at the feet of a man from an upper caste. The incident come into light when a video of the incident gone viral.
The incident occurred when a man named Gopalasamy who belongs to the upper caste visited the office and eventually got into an argument with the administrative officer named Kalai Selvi over a land issue. Later Gopalasamy started abusing Kalai Selvi. They were intervened by assistant officer Muthusamy who was also present at the site. Their conversation took a bad turn and Muthusamy pulled Gopalasamy mistakenly which infuriated Gopalasamy who started using casteist slurs against him. The situation become very tense and in panic, Muthusamy fell into the feet of Gopalasamy and sought his forgiveness. An inquiry has been ordered by the District Collector Coimbatore. DC Sameeran has also directed the Superintendent of Police to file an FIR against the accused.
