An awareness event was organized today on Holistic Agriculture Development Program under Kisan Sampark Abhiyan at Bathuni Panchayat of block Rajouri. The event was presided over by Deputy Commissioner, Vikas Kundal.
The Holistic Agriculture Development program aims at enhancement of overall production, establishment of private/public nurseries, Seed villages, Area expansion, Employment creation, besides formulation of FPOs and incentivization on area expansion under the interventions of Integrated Farming System. Speaking at the event, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for sustainable and integrated agricultural practices to enhance overall production. He also said that the Government has launched a number of schemes and programs for the welfare of the farmers and motivated them to avail the benefits of the same.
In addition to the Holistic Agriculture Development Program, the participants were also made aware of the PM Kisan Scheme, which provides financial assistance to farmers across the country. They were also informed about the importance of the International Year of Millets, which is being celebrated across the country to promote the cultivation of millets.
Later, the DC also distributed Smart kisan Credit cards and IEC material on different centrally/UT sponsored schemes among the beneficiaries. The event was attended by a large number of farmers who were eager to learn about the latest developments in agriculture and take advantage of the various schemes and programs being offered by the government. Overall, the awareness program was a success and helped to promote sustainable and holistic agriculture practices among the farming community. Among the others DSHO, Dr Sarfraz Naseem Chowdhary; DIO, Narinder Kumar; officials of the Sheep Husbandry department and farmers in large numbers attended the event.
