Jammu Police Solve Complex Abduction and Murder Case; 11 arrested

In a significant breakthrough, the Jammu Police have successfully solved a complex abduction and murder case, apprehending an interstate gang of criminals from Ratia Fatehbad, Haryana.

The case involved the kidnapping and killing of Mangal Singh, a cab driver from Jammu. The investigation began on August 19, 2024, when Mangal Singh’s brother reported him missing after he failed to return home from Katra. Two days later, suspicions of abduction arose based on CCTV footage, leading to the filing of FIR No.228/2024 U/S 140 BNS.

Under the supervision of SP Rural Jammu, Brijesh Sharma, a dedicated team led by Inspector Parvez Sajad, SHO Nagrota, and Inspector Nishant Gupta, SHO Jhajjar Kotli, meticulously pieced together evidence from various sources. Their thorough analysis of CCTV footage, call records, and hotel data in Katra yielded a crucial technical lead.

Acting swiftly, the police team traveled to Sirsa, Haryana. With support from local law enforcement and the counter-intelligence unit, they conducted multiple raids, resulting in the arrest of 11 individuals involved in the crime. The police also recovered the victim’s stolen Innova vehicle (Reg.No.JK02BG-7407).

The arrested suspects, primarily from Nagal Tehsil-Ratia, Fatehbad, Haryana, include Gurpreet Singh, Sukhvinder Singh, Gursavak Singh, Gurdeep Singh, Lucky Singh, Sahil, Arjun, another Lucky Singh, Gopal Kumar, and Gurjeet Singh. Additionally, Kuldeep Singh from Khusla Sardulgargh, Punjab, was apprehended.

Investigations revealed that the gang had conspired in Katra to abduct Mangal Singh. They brutally murdered him near Bajalta and disposed of his body in the area. Following the gang’s disclosure, police recovered the victim’s body from Bajalta Morh in Nagrota, in the presence of his family and local community members.

After the postmortem, Mangal Singh’s body was handed over to his family for last rites. The charges against the accused have been updated to include sections 103 BNS and other relevant sections, reflecting the severity of their crimes.

SSP Jammu, along with SP Rural Jammu and SDPO Nagrota, played crucial roles in cracking this challenging case within just four days. Their leadership and the determined efforts of the entire police team have been lauded for swiftly bringing the perpetrators to justice.

This successful operation not only solves a heinous crime but also demonstrates the Jammu Police’s commitment to public safety and their ability to tackle complex, interstate criminal activities. The swift resolution of this case serves as a strong deterrent to potential offenders and reinforces public trust in the law enforcement system.
