After a four hours long meeting with the family of a Police Cop who was brutally tortured by SHO Poonch and his team six days ago, the new, Chief of Poonch Police, Vinay Sharma assured the family that strict legal actions will be taken against erring cops after proper verification into the incident.
Yesterday I came to know about the incident, when a video went viral on social media, SSP Poonch, Vinay Sharma told The Hidden News, adding that the incident took place six days prior to his joining as SSP.
“I am verifying the facts and strict legal action shall follow. I called the family in my office, listened to them for four hours. They are assured of strict action. I am sure that they were satisfied”, he said.
In a conversation with a news portal, Athlete who won eight gold medals for J&K Police at state and national level boxing competition, recollected that he was returning home, after purchasing some medicine for his ailing mother. “When a reached near to my house, I saw a huge crowd and Police on stop, the road/ street was blocked due parking of Police and private vehicles, so I parked my scooty and tried to know what had happened there”, he said, adding that meanwhile, the SHO Poonch, Ranjit Rao came out and started pushing me, without any reasons.
“I told him that I’m also a Police cop, but the power drunken SHO got infuriated and pushed me inside the Police Vehicle along with other Police cops, they assaulted with sticks in the Police van, while moving toward Police Station, on reaching Police Station, the SHO directed the staff to switch off CCTVs installed in Police station and Ranjit Rao allegedly started beating Jagvinder, as if he was a terrorist, who is otherwise the best Boxer in the Police department and represented the Boxing events at the national level. The inhumane torture did not end there, Jagvinder narrates that SHO also gave him electric shocks several times.
“Next day I appeared in the Munsiff Court and filed a complaint against the criminal acts of the police officers in their custody”, Jagvinder Singh narrated during his conversation with a news portal. Meanwhile, the Sikh community of Poonch and Jammu has expressed their anger about this incident.
