Has the district level administration Ramban failed, as Chief Secretary Dr Arun Kumar Mehta, is frequently holding meetings with senior officers to keep Jammu-Srinagar National Highway functional to avoid any kind of discomfort to the Pilgirms of lord Shiva. The ADG Jammu zone, Mukesh Singh had on Sunday visited Ramban to take first-hand information of on ground situation.
ADGP Mukesh Singh is known for his 24×7 job, and he keeps visiting the districts fall under his jurisdiction very frequently, if there is communal tension or natural calamity, you will find Mukesh Singh at forefront always. His commitment with his mandate defines a true public servant. Immediately, after the beginning of Shri Amarnath Yatra, the media newspapers/TV Chanels/social media were flooded with the news of traffic jam on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. Aware about potential of field functionaries, the Jammu Zone Police Chief himself rushed to Ramban. This is not first time, if you remember, he keeps visiting the area falls under his jurisdiction, even very few officers, know about Warwan-Marwah, that touches with boundary of Ladakh UT, but Mukesh Singh regularly visits these remotest area of Kishtwar district of Jammu during winters, when the only road connect this sub division with rest of J&K remains close for more than six month in a year.
Maine hurdle was traffic mismanagement on Ramban-Banihal stretch, which compelled ADGP Jammu to visit Ramban, though it is the mandate of Traffic Police to keep the road clear for haslefree movement of the vehicles carrying the pilgrims and valley bound passengers. However, traffic police an issued a three page long advisories, but miserably failed to implement it on the ground.
Mukesh Singh on Sunday visited Ramban district and took stock of security at transit camp in Banihal area and en-route national highway in the district for the on-going Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2023. The ADGP Jammu was accompanied by DIG DKR Range Dr. Sunil Gupta-, SSP Ramban Mohita Sharma, DIG Traffic Range Jammu Shridhar Patil and other senior Police officers. The main aim of the visit was to conduct on the spot review of the security arrangements planned by the district SSP concerned for smooth and incident free conduct of two months long yatra. During the security review, threadbare discussions were held on various elements of security at different places of deployment i.e Langer security, Lodgment centers security, route deployment, ROP and area domination etc from Udhampur to Jawhar Tunnel.
He also called upon the supervisory officers to ensure that manpower so earmarked for such important duties be personally briefed by them regarding nature and important of duties to be performed by them in the hilly terrain areas. Mukesh Singh-IPS called upon the officers of Police, Army, CPF, intelligence agencies and civil administration to work in a close coordination manner so that no inconvenience is caused to yatries coming from all over the country. He also reviewed the additional security measures being taken at the National Highway. He also discussed the traffic management on the National Highway with the traffic wing officers.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Officers of district administration of Ramban very often seen in photographs inspecting ongoing widening works, but the progress on ground exposed and disappoints one and all.
