A fresh purported threat letter, dated August 7, 2026 and circulated under the name “United Liberation Council,” has triggered renewed security concerns for Kashmiri Hindu employees working in the Kashmir Valley.

The communication contains explicit threats against employees, particularly those posted in administrative departments, and claims to possess details of some employees and their families, warning that they could be targeted in both Kashmir and Jammu.

The authenticity and provenance of the letter have not been independently verified. However, the naming of individuals and threats of violence warrant immediate investigation and a professional threat assessment by security and intelligence agencies.

Reacting to the threat, members of the Kashmiri Hindu community have urged the J&K administration and Union Home Ministry to treat it seriously, citing 52 killings over the past seven years and the history of targeted attacks on minorities and government employees in the Valley. They have demanded an enforceable security framework covering individual threat assessment, secure accommodation, protected movement, workplace security and emergency relocation wherever a credible threat is established. The community has also called for authorities to move beyond assurances and ensure that vulnerable employees are not forced to work under the constant shadow of targeted violence.

While the existence of a threat letter does not by itself establish that an attack is imminent, its specific references to employees and alleged possession of their personal information make it imperative that authorities verify the threat, identify its source and assess the security of those named.

The Hidden News has withheld the names and contact details mentioned in the circulated document to avoid further exposing the individuals to potential harm. The letter’s claims remain unverified pending investigation.
