Mohd Akram Advocate and state General secretary of Gujjar Bakarwal youth welfare conference has expressed concern over low hanging live electric wires on wooden poles and trees in ward no. 8 (Dharnasi) in village thuroo and accused the Power Development Department of showcasing callous approach and throwing all norms to wind.
He said that In ward No 8 of Panchayat Thuroo of sub-division Dharmari as well as other connected and far flung areas, live electric wires are hanging less than 8 feet from the ground. At many places, these wires are attached to wooden poles and trees. It seems that the Power Development department is inviting trouble.
Mohd Akram said that “The Department has failed to install the electric poles and the transmission lines can be seen hanging from the wooden poles,” , adding the transmission lines were lying very low to the ground thus posing a severe danger to the lives of people of the area.
The inhabitants are regularly paying electric bills but PDD is not installing electric poles properly. He said that one local resident Tousif Ahmed has already projected his grievance Telephonically to than deputy commissioner Reasi an year back and he instructed field staff to install poles at different sites but soon after his transfer no body cares about directions and nothing been done in this regard.
He further said that if new poles at different locations is not installed to give hight to the live electric wire than the department of PDD would have beem responsible incase of any thing untoward happen with residents. Akram on behalf of Locals appealed the Lieutenant Governor to intervene and issue orders to PDD to install new poles in the area, so that the people may feel safe and secure.
