In a surprising turn of events, former ministers Basharat Bukhari and Abdul Haq Khan, along with ex-MP Fayaz Mir, are reportedly considering a return to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), sparking a wave of internal discord within the party.

The prospective comebacks have ignited a sharp division among PDP leaders, with some actively advocating for their return while others express skepticism and outright opposition. Basharat Bukhari, known for his past role as the Minister of Horticulture, and Abdul Haq Khan, a prominent figure as the former Minister of Rural Development, have recently hinted at re-joining the PDP, the party they once helped shape. Their potential re-entry has raised eyebrows, with discussions about the possible motivations behind their return running rampant among party members.

Fayaz Mir, a familiar name as a former Member of Parliament, completes the trio of former leaders eyeing a return to the PDP fold. His previous association with the party has piqued interest, as well as speculation about the implications of his comeback for the party’s future dynamics. However, the contemplated comebacks have not been met with unanimous support within the PDP ranks. A growing divide among party leaders has emerged, with some lobbying for the return of these former figures, citing their experience and potential to bolster the party’s credibility. On the other side of the spectrum, a faction of PDP leaders remains skeptical of their motives and concerned about the potential disruption their return could bring.

As the internal turmoil continues to brew, PDP faces a critical juncture that could determine the course of its future. The party leadership is now tasked with navigating these conflicting opinions and deciding whether the return of these former ministers and MP would indeed be a revitalizing force or an unsettling factor within the party. The coming days are expected to shed more light on the evolving situation within the PDP, as leaders grapple with the decision of whether to welcome back these prodigal members or maintain a cautious distance to safeguard the party’s unity and direction.
