A separate notification for dissolving the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) and Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) is likely to be issued tomorrow
The Jammu and Kashmir Government today dissolved 17 Municipal councils and 54 Municipal Committees of JK UT.
According to SO number 595, dated 29th November 2023, issued by the J&K Housing and Urban Development Department, in exercise power conferred by sub-section (2-A) of Section 14 and sub-section (1) of section 269 of the Jammu and Kashmir Municipal Act, 2000 the government is here appoint Deputy Commissioners for 10 municipal Councils of Kashmir division Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama, Shopian, Budgam, Ganderbal, Bandipore, Baramulla, Kupwara and Sopore and seven of Jammu division i.e. Kathua, Samba, Udhampur, Reasi, Doda, Ramban Kishtwar as administrators, while Additional Deputy Commissioners of concerned districts have been appointed as administrators of Municipal Committees for a period of six months or until the establishment of the municipalities, whichever is earlier.
