Scheduled to take place at the picturesque ski destination of Gulmarg from February 21 to 25, the 4th edition of the Khelo India Winter Games promises to showcase the talent and determination of over 800 participants competing in various winter sports disciplines.
Secretary of Youth Services and Sports, Sarmad Hafeez, personally received the athletes, emphasizing that all necessary arrangements have been meticulously made to ensure the smooth conduct of the games. He reiterated the commitment to uphold Covid-19 protocols and guidelines, underscoring the paramount importance of the health and safety of all participants and officials involved.
Speaking about the significance of the event, Hafeez highlighted Gulmarg’s reputation as a premier skiing destination, having recently hosted several national and international skiing events. He expressed optimism that the games would not only provide a platform for athletes to showcase their skills but also inspire more youngsters to embrace winter sports, ultimately bringing laurels to the nation.
En-route to Gulmarg, the athletes were treated to the traditional Kashmiri beverage, Kehwa, offering warmth amidst the heavy downpour and adding to the hospitality of the region. They revealed in the experience of savoring the snowflakes, a quintessential charm of winters in Kashmir. Expressing their excitement and enthusiasm for the upcoming games, the athletes eagerly anticipated the opportunity to compete with their peers while soaking in the scenic beauty of Gulmarg.
