In a resolute crackdown on the rampant drug trade, the Samba District Police today carried out the meticulous destruction of confiscated narcotics and psychotropic substances worth millions of rupees.
This comprehensive operation was coupled with initiating legal proceedings against various drug peddlers, including the imposition of Public Safety Acts (PSAs) and detentions under the Prevention of Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act.
The rigorous four-day operation unfolded at MS Anmol Health Care in Vijaypur, under the overall supervision of Vinay Sharma, Senior Superintendent of Police, Samba, and other committee members. The comprehensive process involved the destruction of a significant cache, encompassing heroin, a staggering 42.82 quintals of poppy straw, 25.800kg of cannabis, marijuana, over 5000 bottles of codeine phosphate, 21,352 prohibited capsules, and assorted tablets.
This resolute action stands as a testament to the unwavering resolve of the Samba District Police in strongly combatting the pervasive drug menace, pledging to uphold the sanctity of a drug-free society while adopting a zero-tolerance stance against nefarious drug peddlers. Additionally, an attachment-cum-demolition drive concerning immovable properties acquired from the illegal proceeds of the narcotics trade, owned by infamous drug kingpins within the district, is already underway.
