R.R. Swain, Director General of Police (DGP), Jammu and Kashmir, paid a day-long visit to Doda district. The visit was marked by a public Darbar and a grievance redressal programme held at the District Police Lines (DPL) Doda.
Upon his arrival at the DPL, the DGP was warmly welcomed by Shridhar Patil, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban (DKR) Range, Harvinder Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Doda, Javaid Iqbal, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Doda, and other officers from the district police, armed forces, traffic, and other wings of the DKR Range. As a mark of respect, the DGP paid tribute by laying a wreath at the Martyrs’ Memorial in the DPL Doda.
The highlight of the DGP’s visit was the scheduled Public Interaction-cum-Grievance Redressal Programme, which witnessed a massive turnout as a large number of people seized the opportunity to present their grievances directly to the top police official. The DGP patiently listened to all the grievances and assured the participants of the timely redressal of genuine issues.
The interaction-cum-grievance redressal programme was attended by people from various areas, including Gandoh, Dessa, Assar, Marmat, Bhaderwah, families of police martyrs, and serving police personnel. They all placed their grievances before the DGP for redressal.
Addressing the gathering, the DGP emphasized the importance of increasing the frequency of public grievance redressal programmes at different levels to ensure effective redressal of complaints from the public. He stated that it is the primary aim of the police to provide justice by differentiating right from wrong.
The DGP’s visit to Doda and the public Darbar highlighted the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s commitment to addressing public concerns and fostering a closer relationship with the community. Such initiatives are crucial for building trust, enhancing transparency, and ensuring the effective delivery of justice and services to the people. The grievance redressal programme provided a platform for the people of Doda to voice their concerns directly to the top police official, reflecting the administration’s efforts to bridge the gap between the authorities and the public. The DGP’s assurance of timely redressal of genuine grievances has instilled hope and confidence among the residents of the district.
