In a ceremonial event today, Chief Justice N. Kotiswar Singh of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh administered the oath of office to Justice Mohd. Yousuf Wani as an Additional Judge of the High Court. The oath-taking ceremony was held in the Chief Justice’s courtroom in Srinagar.
The proceedings were attended by several sitting judges of the High Court, both physically present in Srinagar and virtually from Jammu. These included Justices Tashi Rabstan, Rajnesh Oswal, Vinod Chatterji Koul, Sanjay Dhar, Javed Iqbal Wani, Rahul Bharti, Moksha Khajuria Kazmi, Wasim Sadiq Nargal, Atul Sreedharan, Sanjeev Kumar, Sindhu Sharma, Puneet Gupta, Mohd Akram Chowdhary and Rajesh Sekhri.
Registrar General Shahzad Azeem conducted the ceremony, reading out the notification from the Government of India’s Ministry of Law and Justice appointing Justice Wani, as well as the warrant issued by the President and authorization letter from the Lt. Governor.
The event was attended by former High Court judges, the Advocate General of J&K, the Deputy Solicitor General of India for Srinagar, law officers, judicial officials, bar members, and civil administration representatives. With Justice Wani’s elevation, the strength of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh has increased to 16 judges, including the Chief Justice.
