In a notable development, the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Rajouri have successfully detained a man wanted for the implementation of a Public Safety Act (PSA) warrant, alongside the arrest of another individual who had been evading law enforcement by the Manjakote Police.

The detained individual has been identified as Tariq Mehmood, son of Mohd Kabir, hailing from Nerojal village in Thanamandi. According to police sources, Mehmood has been allegedly involved in unlawful activities, prompting his detention to ensure public peace and order. Mehmood had been evading authorities since September 2023 following the issuance of a PSA warrant by the District Magistrate.
The execution of Mehmood’s detention warrant concluded with his placement in the District Jail Dhangri Rajouri. The arrest was facilitated by a dedicated team of police officers, spearheaded by the Station House Officer (SHO) of Thanamandi.
In a separate incident, the police from Manjakote police station successfully apprehended another individual who had been evading arrest in a different case. The arrested individual has been identified as Zaheer Ahmed, son of Razaq Khan, residing in Kakora Manjakote. Ahmed was wanted in connection with Case FIR No 44/2023 under sections 341/323/504/506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Additionally, a warrant under Section 299 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) had been issued against him by the Court on December 29, 2023.
Despite Ahmed’s attempts to evade law enforcement, the police team, led by the SHO Manjakote, successfully apprehended him.
