In a significant breakthrough against organized crime, the Samba Police have apprehended a total of eight individuals involved in a sophisticated inter-zone theft operation.
This achievement comes after a diligent investigation into a reported case of theft at Police Station Samba. The case unfolded when Renu Sharma of Mahal Shah, Ramgarh, reported that her gold ornaments were stolen during a bus journey from Vijaypur to Samba. Promptly responding to the complaint, Samba Police initiated an investigation, registering FIR No. 73/2024 U/S 379 IPC and commenced their probe.
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Samba, specialized teams comprising the DySP Hqrs Samba, SHO PS Samba, and IC PP Supwal launched coordinated efforts. Using technical and physical surveillance, they successfully identified and apprehended three primary suspects – Shameema, Tahira, and Fayaz Ahmed, all residents of Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu. Subsequent interrogations unveiled a wider network involving Abdul Rashid Sheikh, Mohd Altaf Sheikh from Parimpora Ghat, Srinagar, and Darshan Lal of Arnia, Jammu. They were swiftly detained for questioning, leading to the recovery of a few stolen gold ornaments. Further revelations from Abdul Rashid Sheikh and Mohd Altaf Sheikh led to the arrest of Shahnawaz Hussain and Imtiyaz Hussain Mir, residents of Sultanpora, Pattan Baramulla, Kashmir, who were found to have purchased the stolen gold jewelry. In a major breakthrough, a comprehensive recovery of substantial stolen items, including Gold Bracelets, Chains, Rings, and other valuables, totaling approximately 11 lakh rupees, has been effected by the Samba Police.
