The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted a series of raids across nine locations in Kashmir as part of a significant crackdown on a terror conspiracy case allegedly involving Pakistan-backed organizations and their affiliates.
According to a spokesperson, the raids targeted individuals associated with banned terrorist outfits such as Laskhar-e-Toiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM), Al-Badr, and Al-Qaeda, as well as sympathizers and cadres of these organizations.
The spokesperson stated that the raids yielded several digital devices containing substantial amounts of incriminating data and documents. These raids were conducted in connection with the investigation into case RC-05/2022/NIA/JMU, which was initiated by the NIA suo moto on June 21, 2022.
The case pertains to a militant conspiracy aimed at unleashing violence in Jammu and Kashmir using tactics such as sticky bombs, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and small arms. The spokesperson emphasized that these activities were allegedly backed by Pakistan-based handlers with the goal of disturbing peace and communal harmony in the region by radicalizing local youth and mobilizing overground workers.
Among the outfits mentioned in the statement are, The Resistance Front (TRF), United Liberation Front Jammu Kashmir (ULFJ&K), Mujahideen Gazwat-ul-Hind (MGH), Jammu Kashmir Freedom Fighters (JKFF), Kashmir Tigers, PAAF, and others. These groups are said to be affiliated with banned organizations and were purportedly formed as frontal outfits to carry out the agenda of the main militant groups after their ban by the Government of India. The spokesperson concluded by stating that the recovered digital devices and data are currently undergoing scrutiny as part of efforts to expose and dismantle the entire conspiracy. The NIA’s actions underscore the ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and disrupt the activities of extremist elements operating in the region.
