May join BJP, hints to contest from valley
Senior IPS officer, Basant Rath who had been a celebrity during his at Inspector General of Traffic Police, today surprised one and all with his tweet and whatsapp status.
In his whatsapp status, Rath has posted a copy of resignation letter addressed to Chief Secretary JK UT. In a tweet, he also hinted to join BJP and contest elections from Kashmir valley.
“I which to resign from the India Police Service int order to be able to participate in electoral politics. Please consider the letter as my request for resignation/ voluntary retirement and process it accordingly”, copy of application available on Rath’s whatsapp status read.
Copy of the letter has also been sent DGP J&K Police and Commandant General HG/CD& SDRF J&K. Meanwhile in a tweet, Rath said, “If I ever join political party, it will be BJP. If I ever contest an election, it will be from Kashmir. If I ever join politics, it will be before March 6, 2024.”
