In a display of growing naval cooperation between India and Singapore, three Indian Naval ships- Delhi, Shakti, and Kiltan- led by Rear Admiral Rajesh Dhankhar, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet, reached at the Singapore port today.
The visiting ships were warmly welcomed by personnel from the Republic of Singapore Navy and the High Commissioner of India in Singapore.
This operational deployment of the Indian Navy’s Eastern Fleet to the South China Sea aims to further strengthen the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the two maritime nations. During their stay, the Indian naval contingent will engage in a series of activities, including interactions with the Indian High Commission, professional exchanges with the Republic of Singapore Navy, academic collaborations, and community outreach programs, reflecting the shared values of both navies.
The robust relations between the Indian Navy and the Republic of Singapore Navy span three decades of cooperation, coordination, and collaboration. Regular visits, exchange of best practices, and reciprocal training arrangements have been the hallmark of this enduring partnership.
“The current deployment underscores the strong linkages between our two navies,” stated Rear Admiral Dhankhar. “We look forward to enhancing our maritime cooperation through this visit and fostering greater understanding and camaraderie between our naval forces.” The visit comes at a time when both nations are committed to ensuring a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific region, promoting maritime security, and upholding the principles of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). As the Indian naval ships dock in Singapore, the strategic partnership between the two countries is poised to reach new heights, solidifying their commitment to regional stability and shared maritime interests.
