In a crackdown against terror funding, the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday attached properties worth lakhs belonging to seven alleged terror handlers based in Pakistan in Baramulla district.
Acting on an order from the Additional Sessions Court in Baramulla, the police attached 13 kanals (around 1.6 acres) of land linked to the case FIR No. 04/2008 registered at Police Station Kreeri. The FIR pertains to offenses under sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Explosive Substances Act, and other relevant laws.
The properties attached belong to Shabir Ahmad Sofi of Sheikhpora, Ghulam Nabi Alaie of Waripora Payeen, Ghulam Nabi Sheikh of Warpora Bala, Sharief ud din Chopan and Gulla Sheikh of Reshipora Authoora, Mohammad Rafiq Khan of Saloosa, and Abdul Hameed Parray of Frasthar Tilgam – all residents of Pakistan, according to the police.
“The action was taken under sections 88 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) and is linked with case FIR No. 04/2008 under sections 2/3 of the EIMCO Act, 121 RPC, 7/25 IA Act, 13 UA (P) Act of Police Station Kreeri,” a police spokesperson said.
The police stated that the properties were identified as belonging to the alleged terror handlers during the course of the investigation and inquiry conducted in the case. “The operation reaffirms the commitment of Police to combat terror activities,” the spokesperson added.
