Images purportedly showing three suspected militants believed to be involved in the recent attack on an Indian Air Force (IAF) convoy in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district have surfaced on social media platforms.
The attack, which occurred on May 5 in the Surankote area of Poonch, resulted in the martyrdom of Corporal Vikky Pahade and injuries to four other IAF personnel. The convoy comprising two vehicles was targeted by the militants.
While there has been no official confirmation from authorities regarding the authenticity of the circulated images, highly placed sources suggest that the individuals depicted are the ones responsible for carrying out the Poonch attack on the IAF convoy.
However, the sources refrained from confirming or denying whether the security forces had officially released these images. Earlier, the police had released sketches of two suspected terrorists involved in the attack and announced a reward of Rs 20 lakh for any information leading to their arrest.
The attack on the IAF convoy has once again highlighted the persistent threat of militancy in the region and the challenges faced by security forces in maintaining peace and order.
Authorities are likely to intensify their efforts to identify and apprehend the perpetrators based on the available evidence, including the circulated images, to bring them to justice and prevent future attacks targeting security personnel and civilians.
