In a significant development, former Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Dilbagh Singh, is expected to be appointed as an Advisor to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, sources have revealed.
The announcement regarding Dilbagh Singh’s appointment is anticipated in the second week of next month, immediately after the ongoing general election process concludes. Credited with handling crucial assignments in the sensitive Jammu and Kashmir region, Dilbagh Singh, who had the distinction of being the longest-serving Director General of Police, has held prominent positions such as Senior Superintendent of Police in Doda and Baramulla districts, DIG South Kashmir Range in Anantnag, DIG North Kashmir in Baramulla, DIG Jammu-Kathua Range, and Director of the Special Security Group, J&K, responsible for the security of high-risk protectees like the Chief Minister and former Chief Ministers.
Dilbagh Singh, a retired IPS officer of the 1987 batch, who retired on October 31, 2023, will be the second Advisor in the Lieutenant Governor’s team. The appointment of Dilbagh Singh as an Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor is expected to bring his extensive experience and expertise to the administration, particularly in matters related to security and governance in the sensitive region.
