The rally, addressed by NC president Farooq Abdullah in support of the party’s Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha candidate Mian Altaf, was underway when the incident occurred. According to eyewitnesses, a clash broke out between two groups over some dispute, leading to a chaotic situation.

Taking advantage of the melee, the attackers managed to stab Sohail Ahmad and Yaseer Ahmad, both residents of Harni village, and Mohd Imran from Kasblari village, before fleeing the scene. The three injured workers were immediately rushed to a local hospital for treatment.

While the rally continued without further disruption, the condition of Sohail Ahmad and Yaseer Ahmad is reported to be serious, and they have been referred to the Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital in Rajouri for specialized treatment.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police have registered a case in connection with the incident and launched a manhunt to apprehend the culprits responsible for the attack. Tensions remain high in the area, and additional security personnel have been deployed to maintain law and order.

This is not the first instance of violence during the ongoing election campaign in the region. Political parties have urged their workers and supporters to exercise restraint and allow the democratic process to proceed peacefully. As the investigation into the attack continues, concerns have been raised about the safety of political workers and the need for enhanced security measures during the remaining election rallies and events.
