The District Health Society Doda organized a Tuberculosis awareness and NCD screening camp at the construction site of Khellani Tunnel. The camp was organized as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav activity under the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP) and was held under the supervision of CMO, Dr A H Zargar and District Tuberculosis Officer (DTO) Dr Versha Sharma.
During the camp, the workers as well as staff of NHIDCL Ltd were sensitized about the mode of transmission, symptoms and treatment of Tuberculosis. The health officials apprised them about prevention and treatment of Tuberculosis and spoke about the TB free India campaign launched by the GOI for total elimination of Tuberculosis by 2025. Around 100 persons were screened for TB as well as NCD by the health team deployed for the purpose which included Dr Faheem Wani, Dr Anil Kumar, Sunil Gupta (Phst), Chaman Lal (Lab Tech), Bhaveshwar Katoch (MTS) and Aditiya Kumar (MTS), all from Medical Block Assar District Doda.
TB screening is an effective method for identifying people who may not otherwise seek treatment due to misinformation or misunderstanding about their symptoms. It helps ensure that TB is diagnosed early and treatment is initiated as soon as possible, reducing the risk of transmission in the community and improving treatment outcomes for the patients. Screening camps such as these are also effective in raising community awareness about symptoms, prevention and treatment of TB. On this occasion, the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) authorities on this occasion thanked the District Administration Doda and Health Department for organizing the medical camp.
