In a display of recognition for exemplary service, Jammu and Kashmir’s Director General of Police (DGP), R.R. Swain, visited Doda district today to honor police personnel and Special Police Officers (SPOs) who participated in a recent successful counter-terrorism operation in the Gandoh area.
The operation, which resulted in the elimination of three terrorists, showcased the bravery and skill of the J&K Police force. DGP Swain, accompanied by senior officials including ADGP Law and Order Vijay Kumar and ADGP Jammu Zone Anand Jain, presented appointment orders to seven SPOs who played crucial roles in the operation.
During the ceremony at the District Police Lines (DPL) Doda, Swain praised the courage and dedication of the officers involved. “These events recognize the contributions of our brave personnel who ensure the safety of their fellow citizens and our motherland,” the DGP stated. He emphasized the unique challenges faced by J&K Police, including difficult terrain, and lauded their unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and order in the Union Territory.
Swain assured the gathering that Police Headquarters is committed to providing all due benefits to deserving personnel. He also stressed the police force’s determination to work alongside other security agencies to combat threats to peace in the region.
ADGP Law and Order Vijay Kumar and ADGP Jammu Zone Anand Jain also addressed the gathering, encouraging the officers to maintain their high standards of service while prioritizing safety measures in future operations. The event provided an opportunity for open dialogue between the DGP and the rank and file. Swain listened to the concerns of officers and jawans, issuing on-the-spot directives to senior officials to address their grievances promptly. Local officials, including DIG Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban Range Shridhar Patil and SSP Doda Javaid Iqbal Mir, were present at the function and briefed the DGP on the district’s overall security situation.
In a media interaction following the event, DGP Swain highlighted the ongoing challenges faced by the region, including attempts by adversaries to exploit border areas to infiltrate foreign terrorists. However, he expressed confidence in the ability of J&K Police and other security forces to counter these threats effectively, with continued support from the local population. This visit by the top brass of J&K Police underscores the administration’s commitment to recognizing and supporting the efforts of its frontline officers in maintaining peace and security in the region.
