In a display of exceptional skill and dedication, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) successfully evacuated a critically-ill Indian national from a foreign vessel off the coast of Gujarat on July 21, 2024. The evacuation took place approximately 20 kilometers from the Mangrol coast in Gujarat, where the Motor Tanker Zeal, sailing under the flag of Gabon Republic, had reported a medical emergency. The patient, an Indian crew member, was experiencing alarmingly low pulse rates and lower body numbness, necessitating an immediate medical evacuation. Responding swiftly to the distress call, the ICG Air Enclave at Porbandar dispatched an Advanced Light Helicopter to the scene.
