The government has revealed that a total of 1,07,541 domicile certificates have been issued in Narbal, Magam, and Beerwah tehsils of Beerwah Constituency, with 52 of them granted to non-locals.
In response to a question raised by MLA Dr. Shafi Ahmed Wani in the Assembly regarding the issuance of domicile certificates, including the number of non-locals among the recipients, the government provided the following details:
Narbal Tehsil: 18,921domicile certificates issued, none to non-locals.
Magam Tehsil: 26,277 domicile certificates issued, none to non-locals.
Beerwah Tehsil: 62,343 domicile certificates issued, including 52 to non-locals.
The data highlights that while the majority of domicile certificates were issued to locals, 52 non-locals were granted domicile status in Beerwah Tehsil. The revelation comes amid ongoing debates over domicile policies in Jammu and Kashmir.
