In the wake of heightened tensions along the Indo-Pak borders, India has strongly rejected a spate of fabricated claims propagated by Pakistan regarding alleged damage to Indian military infrastructure. The misinformation campaign, largely circulated through social media handles affiliated with Pakistani agencies and proxies, includes baseless assertions about the destruction of high-value Indian defence assets.
Addressing the media during a press briefing on #OperationSindoor, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh rubbished Pakistan’s claims of having destroyed the Indian S-400 air defence system at Adampur, major airbases at Suratgarh and Sirsa, the BrahMos missile installation at Nagrota, artillery positions at Dehrangyari, and the Forward Ammunition Depot in Chandigarh.
“These are completely fabricated and malicious lies being peddled by Pakistan in a desperate attempt to manipulate perception and morale,” Wing Commander Singh said. “No such damage has occurred. All our strategic and tactical installations remain fully functional and on high alert.”
She further warned that such propaganda attempts were not only a breach of international norms but also a reflection of Pakistan’s frustration in the face of India’s calibrated and resolute defensive posture. “Pakistan’s attempts to create panic and disinformation are not new, but this time, the scale and coordination of the narrative being spread across multiple platforms is concerning,” Singh added.
Military analysts view this misinformation drive as part of Pakistan’s hybrid warfare toolkit, aimed at sowing confusion and undermining trust in Indian defence preparedness. The Indian armed forces have remained tight-lipped about operational details amid ongoing border alerts but have assured the public that all critical assets are secure and operational readiness is at its highest.
Meanwhile, cyber and media monitoring cells under the Ministry of Defence are actively tracking and flagging fake posts and videos, many of which have been traced back to coordinated bot networks and known Pakistani IP addresses.
Officials have urged citizens and media outlets to refrain from amplifying unverified information and to rely on official statements from the Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces spokespersons. As the situation remains tense along the Line of Control and International Border, India’s firm rebuttal marks a clear intent to not just counter on ground but also in the digital domain where narratives can shape global perception and domestic morale.
