The Jammu Police late Tuesday evening clarified that a viral social media post about the alleged abduction of a minor from the Channi area was false. Officials confirmed that the child is safe and currently with his father.
Earlier in the evening, panic gripped residents after reports of a child being kidnapped in a red Swift car spread rapidly on social media platforms. The alarming post triggered widespread concern across Jammu city.
“During investigation, it surfaced that the boy is safe and sound with his father, Sohan Chib. There is reportedly marital discord between the parents. Further investigation is going on. Please ignore rumours,” Superintendent of Police (SP) Jammu South, Ajay Sharma, clarified in a post on his official handle @ajaysharmacop on X (formerly Twitter). Police have urged citizens to refrain from circulating unverified information and creating unnecessary panic.
