J&K: TEDx NIT Srinagar organizes mini talk competition at IUST

TEDx National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar on Thursday organized a mini TEDx talk competition at Islamic University of Science and Technology,(IUST) Awantipora. The Department of Training and Placement NIT Srinagar was the host of the event.

While event was attended by hundreds of students from IUST and dozens presented their Mini TEDx Talks on various topics. In his message, Director NIT Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Sehgal said such events inspire the students to accelerate in their careers, fields and are important for their all-round development. Prof. Sehgal appreciated the Head Training & Placement Department, Dr. Obbu Chandra, and his entire team for making the event a grand success. Institute’s Registrar, Prof. Syed Kaiser Bukhari said motivational talks help students to believe in themselves and empower their confidence. It is always essential for students to stay motivated and have faith in themselves, he said. The mega event was attended by officials from NIT Srinagar, IUST, Resonance Eduventures and Chanakya IAS Academy. The Jury panel consisted of Dr Tahir Wani, Asst. Professor, Dr Rafiq Ahmad Teli, Assistant Professor from HSS&M, NIT Srinagar, Ms Sana Javed and Charanjeet Kour -Counsellor from Chanakya IAS Academy. Syed Agha Hadi Riza, Curator TEDx NIT Srinagar in his opening remarks talked about the TEDx event and stated that it is going to be a path breaker for Kashmir, as this event is going to bring reputed national level speakers to the valley. “Such events would help our students to get a world-class experience. I am also thankful to The Broadway Group, Resonance Eduventures, Chanakya IAS Academy, Web Cycle & WHSS for supporting TED’s mission of sharing ideas worth spreading,” Syed Aga Hadi Riza said. He also informed this year, a TEDx Conference named TEDxNITSrinagar is being organized at NIT Srinagar on 28th May 2022, where eminent personalities from various fields will combine to spark deep discussions and connections. TEDxNITSrinagar is conducting Mini TEDx Talks in all major Institutions of the Kashmir Region, in which students would give a TED Talk (4-5minute Speech) on any topic at their institute level and 2 winners selected from each Institute will then be invited for a state-level competition at NIT Srinagar. The top 50 Students selected from the State Level Competition will then be invited to witness TEDxNITSrinagar and experience TEDx. Several top officials from IUST including Prof. Ayaz Hassan Moon – Dean School of Engineering & Technology, Prof. Lily Want – Director Averroes Centre for Philosophical Studies, Prof. Shabir Ahmad Bhat – Professor – Department of Management Studies and Dr Anisa Jan, Dean of Students Affairs also graced the event with their presence.

 

Ms Sana Javed from Chanakya IAS Academy also gave a career counselling talk to the students of IUST. She also talked about various career paths students can choose, and how one has to make smart decisions at the right time to succeed in life.

 

These mini-ted events are being organised in order to provide the students with the world-class experience of TED, through these events TEDxNITSrinagar team will be identifying the brightest minds of our valley, who will be invited to witness the TEDxNITSrinagar event.

 

The Mini TEDx Competition held at the Islamic University of Science and Technology was a great success. Students were very enthusiastic and wished for more joint events with NIT Srinagar. The results of this competition will be declared at TEDxNITSrinagar’s official website www.tedxnitsrinagar.in and its official Social Media Handles
