There seems to be no end to the corruption in the government departments as the unprecedented increase in the corruption cases in government departments, the Revenue department which had earned the dubious distinction long back of hogging the headlines, still seems fearless.

In the latest case of the revenue official of the rank of Girdawar posted at Miran Sahib arrested by the CBI on the charges of corruption as the Girdawar in question demanded Rs 25000 from the complainant for issuance of revenue extract. As per reports even Rs 2 lacs also recovered from the car of Girdawar, Officials said. As the anti graft agencies Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) the Central Burau of Investigation (CBI) doing a commendable job in respect of tightening the noose of the corrupt officials despite that the revenue officials dared to indulge into corruption. Now the question arises when these revenue officials fully know that if they caught while demanding and accepting bribes FIRs would be lodged against them coupled with same came in media also which even lower down the image of the officials but still it is astonishing aspect that these revenue officials continue to indulge in corruption with impunity as if there is none to checked upon and they are demanding the corruption without any fear of the law enforcing agencies, sources lamented.

“Revenue officials as they earned the Notoriety of being most corrupt as such, they know well that with the money they scot free from the clutches of the law”, said a social activist, adding that it has been observed that prosecution miserably failed to prove the guilt of the accused resultant there in alleged accused revenue officials get acquittal from the court.

“If the corrupt officials being given punishment in a time bound manner in the courts this would acts a deterrent for such corrupt officials of revenue department in particular and other department officials in general”, he added. He said that despite getting hefty salaries these revenue officials still indulge into corruption and this practise of corruption is not new rather even in erstwhile state also these revenue officials remained under the scanner of ACB or CBI, have amassed huge wealth which is disproportionate to their known sources of income.

It is pertinent to mention here in that due to the revenue officials involved in neck deep corruption the ultimate sufferers are the gullible masses as they have to pay bribe to the revenue officials in order to get their work done. But the moot question how daring the officials that they demand bribe from the masses and masses in turn caught in a fix as how to give the bribe as such then they managed after all from their sources and some also owes money from their dear ones as such the masses facing onslaught from the hands of these revenue officials. “If the people don’t pay bribe, then the revenue officials would do insertions in the documents as such masses caught in a quagmire and left with no other option then to paid the bribe to revenue officials. Some people abreast with the law they do complain to the ACB that the revenue officials demanding bribe so that they put behind the bars”, he added.
