3100 years old sculptures of lord Vishnu found in Budgam, Police hands over to Archives, Archaeology and Museums Department

After the proper examination and conservation of the sculptures, the same will be displayed in the Archaeology gallery of SPS Museum Lalmandi Srinagar for the general public.

District Police Budgam today handed over two sculptures of lord Vishnu belongs to 9th Century AD, to Director Archives, Archaeology and Museums, J&K, Pardeep Kumar, soon these sculptures would be displayed at Archaeology gallery of SPS Museum Lalmandi Srinagar for the general public.

A team of officers/officials led by the Director, Archives, Archaeology and Museums, J&K, Pardeep Kumar and Deputy Director, Archives, Archaeology and Museums (AA&M), Kashmir, Mushtaq Ahmad Beigh today visited the office of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Budgam, Tahir Saleem Khan on their invitation for the examination of stone sculptures recovered by the Police Station (P.S) Budgam.

After the proper examination of the sculptures, it was found that three headed and four-armed Lord Vishnu which is highly carved is of greenish stone and belongs to 9th Century AD (approximately). The second one is a fragment of Panchmukh. The handover takeover of the said sculptures took place in presence of the Director, Archives, Archaeology and Museums and Senior Superintendent of Police, Budgam and other officers/officials along with Deputy Superintendent of Police, Budgam and Deputy Director, Archives, Archaeology and Museums, Kashmir. After the proper examination and conservation of the sculptures, the same will be displayed in the Archaeology gallery of SPS Museum Lalmandi Srinagar for the general public.
