Regional Political Parties Show Red Signal to the Event

Amid strong opposition of the recently concluded “Real Estates Summit 2021” by some of the regional Political Parties, by terming it “a big fraud and loot of J&K’s resources”, at the time, a JKAS officer hailing from Chenab Valley, has earned title of ‘Flash’ for untired efforts to make this event a grand success from government as well as the representatives Real Estate Industry. One and all, who attended the summit called Mohd. Shahid Saleem Dar, MD J&K Housing Board, who made the UT as well as Union Government dream true in J&K.

“Sahid sahab has played commendable role in making this summit successful, he worked hard even during Saturday and Sunday”, Secretary MoHUA Durga Shanker Mishra had said during the event held at Convention Centre Jammu on December 27. The MD JKHB, during the panel discussion, a part of, the day long even, said, “earlier it was closed, but now it is open for everyone” he said, probably he taking about the possibilities for outsider post August 2019. It is relevant to mention here that, MD JKHB Sahid Saleem Dar, has been facing a verification by ACB in alleged disproportionate asset case, and according to sources his contribution in this event has may help him to come out of the trouble. Apart from ACB, several complaints against Sahid Saleem had landed at Raj Bhawan. “These complaints were filed by the representatives of the Gandhi Nagar Residents’ Association. Lt. Guv. Manoj Sinha reportedly, have taken cognizance of the complaints and had twisted arms of some officers of JKHB as well as the HUDD”, sources disclosed and informed after this incident, a news report, praising Sahid Saleem role as MD JKHB appeared in a News Portal. The News Report, also revealed that the Sahid Saleem was “targeted for completing unfinished works assigned him by the former Chief Secretary, JK UT B. V. R. Subrahmanyam.”

Criticizing the Real Estate Summit 2021 which held in Jammu, the DDC Member from Suchetgarh Taranjit Singh Tony said that the 39 MOUs signed during this summit is an attempt to snatch the land holdings of the people whatever is left over with them in the name of development and employment.

“The amendment which were made in land laws that there will be no need of permission to use agriculture land upto 100 kanals, which clearly shows that Government is hell bent to sell Jammu,” he alleged further adding that MOUs were signed to favour some rich colonizers friends of government. “These MOUs will not affect the Kashmir region and Jammu will be the only one to suffer. All these things are done so hurriedly to sell Jammu. The claims of the Government that investment will create employment are totally baseless. Already Liquor, Mining mafias have captured the local business and now the big fishes will eat up whatever is left over here in Jammu,” he lamented.

Talking about the previous steps taken by UT Administration, Tony said that the LG Government has allotted Rs 1500 crore composite tenders to outsiders due to which the local contractors have suffered a huge loss. The policies of the Government are totally contradictory to what promises are made in context with employment, he said. Lashing out at the Government, Tony said that there is conspiracy to sell State land in Jammu on peanuts to these developers as Government has not cleared that at what rate it will sell its land to these real estate companies. Unemployment has gone up in the last 70 years in Jammu and Kashmir and now instead of creating employment avenues, the UT Government has been selling Jammu. There was only one job left in Jammu and that was agriculture but with the change in land laws, the government has cleared its intentions that it is going to snatch this job also from youth which will prove counterproductive in future, he said. Gauging peoples’ mood, opposition parties have also exposed the J&K Government for organizing such events by spending crores and crores of rupees from the exchequer of the cash-starved regime.

“There is fraud going on in the name of investment. We are not against investment, we want only the residents of J&K to buy property here. BJP decisions indicate J&K is no more a part of India. No one can forcefully rule here”, the president of Apni Party Altaf Bukhari said while addressing a rally at Srinagar on Wednesday. “Apni Party has always welcomed the prospective initiatives that are incorporated to uplift the regional economy and benefit the local inhabitant of J&K”, Apni Party observed. “But the Real Estate Summit held in Jammu undermines the Domicile Law that has been introduced to safeguard the rights of the natives of J&K”, the party maintained, adding, “Such moves require majoritarian consent of the locals which can thereafter be implemented by a government elected by the people”. “The local population has a deep resentment over these arbitrary laws which routinely gives them an impression of disempowerment and adds further to the feeling of alienation”, the party observed. Apni Party is resolute in its demand that these decisions fall specifically under the domain of an elected government while the current administration must focus on safeguarding the rights of the people, curbing spiking unemployment rates and inflation in the Union Territory.
