The Principal, Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H), Dr Ashutosh Gupta had directed the head of department HoD’s in consultation with faculty member for submission of roster by 7th of August, for their duties in emergency from 4.30PM to 10.00 (next day), on basis of a high level meeting chaired Commissioner Secretary, J&K Health and Medical Education (H&ME) Department, Bhupinder Kumar, in which he had asked the administration for remedial measure during the pressure hours to decongest the ever crowded hospital.
“As per the decision taken in the meeting held on 03-08-2023 at 1.00 PM in the Committee Room of this institution with regard to the availability of Senior Doctors in the Emergency, GMCH, Jammu. The following head of department HoD’s in consultation with faculty members shall submit the rosters latest by 07-08-2023 of the consultants of their respective Departments on weekly basis for their duties in the Emergency, GMC Hospital, Jammu from 4.30 PM to 10.00 AM (next day)”, order issued by the Principal GMC&H Jammu vide no. GMC/2023/order/1660, dated 03/08/2023.
“The HoD Medicine/Surgery/Anaesthesia/Orthopaedics, allied surgical, medicinal and anaesthesiology specialties shall also be included in the roster”, the order further added.
Sources in GMCH Jammu told The Hidden News the decision has been taken in the interests of patients care. “Certainly, some senior faculty members have been opposing it, but we all reforms are not accepted easily, but if you really want to serve your people you have to accept and perform well”, said a senior doctor, who welcomes the step taken by the administration.
Earlier, on 29/03/2023 in an meeting chaired by the Commissioner Secretary, J&K Health and Medical Education (H&ME) Department, Bhupinder Kumar had asked the administration of GMCH Jammu for remedial measure during the pressure hours to decongest the ever crowded hospital.
“But due to lackadaisical approaches of traditional administration, expectation of the Administrative Secretary in the interest of patients care could not be fulfil, as no changes took place after that meeting, but the incumbent Principal seems very much ambitious, we all hope that we will certainly hit the bulls eye”, said the doctor.
