Acting on specific inputs, a joint team of Gandoh Police Station and the flying squad of AC-51 Bhaderwah conducted a raid in Gandoh area today, leading to the seizure of a massive quantity of illicit liquor and cash.
According to a statement issued by Doda Police, the team headed by Inspector Parvez Ahmed Khanday and Naib Tehsildar Mohd Azeem recovered 88 bottles of liquor along with Rs 3,41,970 in cash from the possession of one Susheel Kumar, son of Pritam Singh, a resident of Kuthyara, Tehsil Kahara, Gandoh.
Prompt action was taken by registering an FIR (No. 32/2024) under relevant sections of law at Police Station Gandoh, and an investigation into the case has been initiated. The successful operation highlights the commitment of law enforcement agencies to crackdown on the illegal trade of liquor and other prohibited substances in the region.
Sources suggest that the seized liquor was meant for sale in the area, and the cash was likely proceeds from the unlawful business. Efforts are underway to ascertain the supply chain and nab any other individuals involved in the racket.
This seizure comes as a major blow to those engaged in the illicit liquor trade, which has been a persistent issue in several parts of the region. The police have reiterated their resolve to intensify operations against such anti-social elements and curb the menace of alcohol smuggling.
