In a move aimed at strengthening the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Jammu and Kashmir, the General Administration Department (GAD) of the state government has issued orders for the posting of one IPS officer and two JKPS officers to the bureau.
Through Government Order No. 1049-JK(GAD) of 2024 dated 14.05.2024, the government has transferred and posted Vikas Gupta, IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Prisons, as the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Anti-Corruption Bureau, J&K, against an available vacancy. The order states that the transfer has been made “in the interest of administration.”
In a separate order, Government Order No. 1050-JK(GAD) of 2024 dated 14.05.2024, the government has transferred and posted two Superintendents of Police to the Anti-Corruption Bureau with immediate effect. Amit Verma, JKPS, formerly the Deputy Commandant of the Border Battalion in Jammu, and Surinder Kumar, JKPS, previously the Deputy Commandant of the IR 24th Battalion, have been assigned to the ACB.
The orders were issued by Sanjeev Verma, IAS Commissioner/Secretary to the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, underscoring the state’s commitment to strengthening its anti-corruption measures. The appointments come at a crucial time when the Jammu and Kashmir administration is making concerted efforts to curb corruption and uphold transparency in governance. The new officers are expected to bring their expertise and dedication to the Anti-Corruption Bureau, bolstering its capabilities in investigating and prosecuting cases of corruption and misconduct. The move is being seen as a positive step towards enhancing accountability and promoting good governance in the union territory.
