It was a part of the carefully planned move by the BJP to ensure the smooth passage of its legislature in Rajya Sabha which aimed to strip Jammu and Kashmir of its special status under Article 370 and also splitting the full-fledged state into two Union Territories. “It now emerges that three members of Rajya Sabha were approached by the ruling party and establishment in the final hours leading to the August 5 announcement”, Indian Express.
