In a major development, the Economic Offences Wing-Crime Branch Jammu has taken decisive action against individuals involved in a Rs. 35 lakhs Kitty Party fraud.
The investigative team presented a 396-page charge sheet before the Court, outlining charges of criminal conspiracy, cheating, and defrauding citizens of their hard-earned money through deceptive Kitty party schemes.
The accused, identified as Pinky Gupta (also known as Saroj Gupta) and Shiv Partap Gupta, residents of Green Enclave near J&K Board of School Education, Rehari Colony, Jammu, faced criminal proceedings following a written complaint lodged by Neelam Malhotra and others. The complainants alleged that the accused enticed them and fellow citizens with promises of substantial returns on deposits made for Kitty parties. The accused then absconded, leaving their residence and office locked, resulting in a collective loss of Rs. 35.00 lakhs for the victims.
The charge sheet details a meticulous investigation that substantiated the allegations, revealing offenses of cheating, criminal misappropriation, and criminal conspiracy on the part of the accused. Despite the accused being on the run outside the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, a well-coordinated effort by the Crime Branch team led to their apprehension, ensuring accountability and justice.
The investigation is now officially closed as Challan, marking a crucial step in addressing the accused’s involvement in the fraudulent Kitty Party scheme.
