This achievement underscores the unit’s commitment to protecting the community from online threats and financial fraud.

The Investigation:

The success story began on February 9, 2024, when Mr. Jai Prakash lodged a complaint regarding a fraudulent transaction involving a Netflix QR code, resulting in a loss of Rs. 1,22,557. Through meticulous investigative efforts, it was uncovered that the funds had been transferred to the account of a merchant named Payxsilica.com.

Dedicated Efforts:

The Cybercrime Investigation Team, led by PSI Amrinder Singh and PSI Moin Khan, demonstrated unwavering determination and advanced skillsets throughout the investigation. Their relentless pursuit of justice ultimately led to the successful recovery of the defrauded funds, totaling Rs. 1,22,557. This accomplishment marks a significant victory in the ongoing battle against online scams and financial fraud.

Acknowledgment and Call for Vigilance:

SSP Kishtwar, Abdul Qayoom, expressed his appreciation for the officers’ exemplary dedication and emphasized the importance of cybersecurity awareness. He urged the residents of Kishtwar to remain vigilant, educate themselves about online safety measures, and promptly report any instances of cybercrime. By fostering a culture of vigilance and cooperation, the community can collectively combat the menace of cybercrime and safeguard their financial assets.

The successful recovery of defrauded funds by the Cybercrime Investigation Unit of District Police Kishtwar highlights the effectiveness of collaborative efforts in combating online threats. As cybercriminals continue to evolve their tactics, it is imperative for law enforcement agencies and the public to remain vigilant and proactive in addressing cyber threats.
