400 individuals placed their grievances before J&K Police Chief

Director General of Police (DGP) for Jammu and Kashmir, R.R Swain, underscored the importance of stringent action against narcotics during a meeting with senior police and civil administration officers of the North Kashmir Range at the district Police lines in Baramulla.

The DGP, who was on a day-long visit to Baramulla, chaired the meeting to review the security and crime scenario in the region. Additionally, he conducted the 2nd Public Grievance Redressal Programme in North Kashmir, witnessing a significant turnout of around 400 individuals who placed their grievances directly before him.

During the meeting, DGP Swain emphasized that combating narcotism is not only anti-terror and pro-people but also crucial in curbing organized crime and other associated criminal activities. He urged officers to develop a comprehensive roadmap to eradicate the narcoterror trade from Jammu and Kashmir, stressing the importance of thorough investigations into Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) cases to differentiate between perpetrators and victims.

Furthermore, Swain urged officers to utilize human resources at police stations effectively, emphasizing the need for proactive policing practices such as robust investigations. He highlighted the emerging threats of cybercrime and urged officers to leverage the recently deputed Technology Teams in each district.

Addressing the welfare of the Jammu and Kashmir Police Parivar, Swain assured that housing issues for the families of martyrs, deceased, and retired personnel are being addressed at the highest level. He directed district officers to enhance the functioning of police schools and hostels, with full support from Police Headquarters.

The meeting was attended by several high-ranking officials, including IGP Kashmir V K Birdi, IGP POS B S Tuti, DIG NKR Vivek Gupta, DC Baramulla Minga Sherpa, and various SSPs from the region.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Public Grievance Redressal Programme, DGP Swain emphasized the importance of addressing grievances of rural residents, stating that the initiative aimed to resolve both public and police grievances effectively.

DGP Swain’s proactive approach and emphasis on addressing critical issues such as narcotism and public grievances reflect the commitment of the Jammu and Kashmir Police to maintaining peace and security in the region.
