Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh and Netherlands Defence Minister Ms. Kajsa Ollongren convened in New Delhi today for a bilateral meeting aimed at bolstering defence ties between the two nations. The discussions focused on avenues for expanding collaboration, particularly in maritime security and industrial sectors.
In a joint statement following the meeting, Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh remarked, “India and the Netherlands share a strong commitment to enhancing bilateral defence cooperation. Today’s discussions have paved the way for deeper engagement, especially in maritime security, where both nations play pivotal roles.”
Highlighting the potential for synergies between Indian and Dutch industries, Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh suggested, “Dutch Original Equipment Manufacturers could explore opportunities to integrate Indian vendors into their supply chains. This would not only bolster our defence capabilities but also promote economic growth and technological exchange between our countries.”
Ms. Kajsa Ollongren echoed the sentiments, stating, “The Netherlands values its relationship with India and sees great potential for collaboration in the defence sector. We are committed to working closely with India to enhance maritime security in the Indian Ocean Region and explore opportunities for mutual benefit in high-tech industries.”
The meeting between the two defence ministers comes amidst the Netherlands Defence Minister’s participation in the Raisina Dialogue in New Delhi, where discussions on global security challenges and strategic partnerships are underway.
The pledge to strengthen defence cooperation between India and the Netherlands reflects the shared commitment of both countries to advancing security interests and fostering innovation-driven growth in the defence sector.
