In a meticulously executed overnight operation spanning the nights of March 11 and 12, 2024, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) intercepted a Pakistani boat in the Arabian Sea, approximately 350 kilometers from Porbandar.

cting on actionable intelligence, the ICG, in a coordinated sea-air mission, apprehended the vessel carrying six crew members and a significant quantity of narcotics valued at approximately Rs 480 crore. The operation, a testament to seamless inter-agency collaboration, involved ICG ships and Dornier Aircraft, showcasing the effectiveness of joint efforts between the Indian Coast Guard, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), and Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) Gujarat.

Providing insight into the operation, a spokesperson for the Indian Coast Guard stated, “On Monday, March 11, 2024, the Indian Coast Guard, acting on specific intelligence inputs, strategically deployed its assets in the Arabian Sea.” Utilizing sophisticated surveillance capabilities, including Dornier aircraft, the ICG meticulously scanned the area, ultimately locating the suspicious vessel. Upon intercepting the boat, which was displaying evasive behavior, ICG ships swiftly moved to halt its progress. Despite attempts to evade capture, the vessel was successfully immobilized, allowing boarding teams to conduct preliminary checks and investigations.

Subsequent examination of the vessel revealed approximately 80 kilograms of narcotics, with an estimated street value of Rs 480 crore. The apprehended boat and its crew are currently en route to Porbandar for further investigation and legal proceedings.

This successful operation marks the tenth apprehension by the Indian Coast Guard in collaboration with ATS Gujarat and NCB over the past three years. Cumulatively, these efforts have resulted in the seizure of 517 kilograms of narcotics, valued at a staggering Rs 3135 crore. Speaking on the significance of the operation, a senior official commended the coordinated efforts of all agencies involved, emphasizing the unwavering commitment to safeguarding India’s maritime borders and combating illicit activities in the region.

As investigations continue, authorities remain vigilant, reaffirming their resolve to uphold maritime security and preserve the integrity of India’s coastal waters.
