In a significant achievement, Jammu Police today apprehended a notorious fraudster and rape accused from Hyderabad, identified as Shaheensha Shareef. The accused has been involved in multiple cases of cheating, fraud, and rape across Telangana and Odisha.
The arrest was made during a routine patrol in the Dogra Chowk Jammu, when a police party, led by SHO Police Station Nowabad, noticed the suspect behaving suspiciously. Upon questioning, Shareef failed to provide satisfactory responses, raising further suspicion.
“During interrogation, the suspect revealed his true identity, which led us to uncover his extensive criminal background,” said a Police spokesperson.
“We immediately contacted the Hyderabad authorities, who confirmed that Shareef was wanted in connection with 10 FIRs for rape, cheating, fraud, and criminal breach of trust in various police stations across Telangana. Additionally, he was also involved in a cheating case registered in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.”
The spokesperson further revealed that Shareef had been absconding in a high-profile rape case in Hyderabad, which added urgency to his arrest.
“After following the necessary legal procedures, we handed the accused over to the Hyderabad Police, who had traveled to Jammu to take him into custody. Jammu Police remain committed to ensuring the safety of the city by cracking down on criminal elements at all levels,” added the spokesperson.
The arrest marks a major victory in ongoing efforts by the Jammu Police to strengthen law enforcement and deter crime, ensuring the safety and security of citizens.
