Upon receiving information about the stabbing, the Katra Police swiftly registered an FIR (No. 82/2024) at the local Police Station under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act. Deepak Kumar was expeditiously transported to the Community Health Centre in Katra for urgent medical attention.

Recognizing the severity of the situation, Ms. Mohita Sharma, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Reasi, took decisive action by forming a specialized team to track down and apprehend the perpetrators without delay. The team, led by SHO Katra, Inspector Nishant Gupta, strategically deployed checkpoints across Katra and its surroundings to apprehend the suspects.

Through meticulous surveillance and relentless efforts, the Katra Police successfully located and arrested all four accused individuals: Sunil Sharma alias Sunilu, Himanshu Sharma alias Rajju, Rohit Kumar alias Rotu, and Mukesh Kumar alias Mukeshu. The suspects, all residents of Aghar Jitto village in Tehsil Katra, District Reasi, were found in possession of sharp-edged weapons, including a dagger, a knife, and a cricket bat, which were seized as evidence.

Expressing grave concern over such acts of violence, SSP Mohita Sharma condemned the perpetrators’ actions as a blot on society’s moral fabric. She assured that the investigation would be thorough and comprehensive, incorporating all available evidence to ensure swift justice for the victim.

The proactive response from the Katra Police and the collaborative efforts of district authorities have garnered praise for their commitment to upholding law and order in the region. The arrests signify a resolute stance against criminal activities, reaffirming the authorities’ dedication to ensuring the safety and security of residents in Katra and surrounding areas.
