In what could be termed as good initiative by Chief Secretary, JK UT, Dr Arun Kumar Mehta as he has issued directions to the administration to take action against those revenue officers who are responsible for missing the revenue extracts.
Revenue department who has earned the dubious distinction of being most corrupt during the erstwhile regimes and even as per reports under the UT administration revenue officers indulged into the corrupt practices.
This revenue department has very pivotal and key role to play in one’s life as these officers have to dealt with the land issues in particular for which the gullible masses have to come in contact with them on one hand or the other. Despite LG’s administration launched a campaign of crusade against corruption meaning there by those officers who indulged into corruption they will be perish or shown the door. Better we say Zero tolerance against corruption which we hailed. But despite that due to prevalence of lacuna this motto and intent of LG administration not yielded the positive results which can be evident from the fact that masses complained about the revenue officers sought money for work done. It is out of place to mention here in that during the tenure of predecessor Divisional Commissioner Dr Raghav Langer it came to fore that important revenue records of Sunjuwan, Chowadhi etc has been misplaced. To which the administration has ordered a probe into this regard in order to fix responsibility of the same.
Now, more than one year has elapsed and there has been no headway in regards to who have been involved in making the important records of the revenue missing. Chief Secretary given the vital importance of the revenue records has issued a directions with a sole motoo to fix responsibility as who are those officers who were hand in glove in missing the records which are of vital importance.
As this government has made the revenue record digitized which we say now with the click of single button one can came to know by entering revenue records details of the property of everyone, as such now the top boss of the administration passed a directive to know who are those officers who without any fear of the law in a well hatched criminal conspiracy and in criminal manner resorted to such blunder of missing revenue records.
It has also been learnt that revenue officials deliberately misplaced the revenue records in order to scot free from the radar of the government for the misdeeds they had committed for extraneous considerations. If this government able to unveil and unravel as who are those revenue officials who have committed this Illegality then this would acts as deterrent for others revenue officials also. As this missing revenue records when galore it becomes talk of the town that how the records misplaced which was not possible to happened without the connivance of the revenue officers as they are keeper of the records as such it is their bounded duty to ensure that revenue records not been misplaced at any cost as it gives details of the owners of the property etc. Now, directions has been passed by none other than by the CS. It has to be seen as how the administration comply with the same meaning there by what yardsticks they will adopt. If thorough probe ordered this will open the pandora’ box.
