Acting swiftly into the recommendations made the J&K Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the Housing and Urban Development Department (H&UDD) ordered enquiry against Executive Officer, Municipal Committee, Chadura (Budgam), Mushtaq Ahmed Wani, who reportedly has amassed huge assets both moveable and immovable, beyond the known sources of his income.

The H&UDD has appointed Riyaz Ahmad Shah, Joint Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation as enquiry officer vide government order number 126-JK(HUD) of 2022, to enquire the inputs provided by the CID the administrative department. The Enquiry Officer, as per the government order complete and submit his recommendations in 15 days.

“The Executive officer, Municipal Committee Chadoora (Budgam) Mushtaq Ahmad Wani is highly corrupt officer. He is minting money in every matter through his ‘touts’ Sahil Latief (Incharge Violation Section), Gluzar Ahmad Sheikh (Assistant Violation Section) and Nazir Ahmad Dar trio posted in Municipal Office Chadoora”, sources in H&UDD told the Hidden News.

“The EO gives permission for illegal construction on monetary consideration through his above touts and later when the building gets completed, he alongwith Tehsildar and SDM makes a surprise visit and stops the construction work and demands bribe from them to continue the construction”, they further said that the officer has amassed huge assets.

“He extorted Rs Rs1300 from every shopkeeper for registration of shops and there are around 1000 in the Chadoora town for the purpose of registration with Municipality. However, neither the registration was done nor the payment was returned to them”, sources said, quoting the inputs provided by the CID to H&UDD.

“The EO is running a petrol pump near Bugroo, Khansahib in the name of his nephew namely Mohd Younis Khanday. He has also purchased land worth two crores’ rupees at Nadrigund near PHQ Srinagar. He was posted as Incharge, Municipal Committee, Chadoora in March 2021 and has been given additional charge of EO Municipal Committee, Kulgam by the ULB department”, the input further reveals. It is pertinent to mention here that under LG Manoj Sinha’s leadership, the J&K Administration has launched a crusade against corruption, and no one is being spared, even some IAS officers has been punished for their involvement in corruption in the recent past. Going a step ahead from past’s practice, when Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) and the Crime Branch were dealing with corruption cases, the LG administration is reportedly, utilising the service of CID to identify the Blacksheep in the system.
