In a commendable display of cooperation between the community and security forces, the Jammu and Kashmir Police awarded a cash prize of three lakh rupees to an individual for providing vital information leading to the recovery of a Pakistani drone in the Ramgarh sector of Samba district.
Senior Superintendent of Police Samba, Shri Vinay Kumar, JKPS, presented the cheque on behalf of ADGP Jammu Zone during a felicitation ceremony jointly organized by Samba Police and BSF. The event, attended by high-ranking officials including IG BSF Shri D.K Boora and DIG BSF Jammu Sector Shri Chitter Pal, aimed to honor the invaluable contribution of the local resident from village Nandpur.
The informant, residing near the Border Out Post (BoP) Chamliyal, displayed swift action and alertness on January 18, 2024, upon discovering a suspicious object in his field. Without hesitation, he promptly alerted the nearest BSF unit, leading to the successful recovery of a Pakistani surveillance drone equipped with a camera.
During the ceremony, SSP Samba emphasized the importance of public cooperation in combating narco-terrorism sponsored by Pakistan. He highlighted the various rewards recently announced by DGP J&K for individuals providing information on trans-border tunnels, drones, narcotics, terror activities, and terrorists, underlining the critical role of community involvement in maintaining security.
IG BSF reiterated the significance of vigilance among local residents and assured full support from BSF to those living near the International Border. Ex-BDC Chairman Ramgarh, Shri Darshan Singh, expressed gratitude towards J&K Police for incentivizing public participation in enhancing border security.
