Rohingyas tried to explode Holding Center Hiranagar in which they are lodged by burning LPG gas cylinders kept inside the center reportedly and they also held hostage police cops and the doctor visited them for medical check-up on this July 18.

A section of national and international media carried a one sided and biased story keeping fact into the bin, but The Hidden News after four days investigation of interviewing a number of officials and the individual come to the conclusion the facts behind the incident remained un-touched and un-disclosed ‘intentionally’.

You will find a story of death a 40 days old girl baby and the teargas used by the Police control “the clashes took place after, few Rohingyas tried to explode gas cylinder” without mentioning of quoted portion of this paragraph.

This tragic incident (death of 40 days old baby) took place at Rohingyas Holding Center in Kathua district of Jammu Jammu and Kashmir. In the incident a baby girl of 40 days died. The incident was reported by The Wire and other media houses in a biased and manipulative way where the Kashmir based reporters asserted that the baby died due to the tear gas gunned at the holding center and parents and family of the baby were hand cuffed when brought to the cremation ground. The report carried by The Wire tried to create a picture of dehumanizing the Rohingyas and their human rights violation by the police and civil administration. But the truth is far from what was reported by the news portal. It is important to clear certain misconception regarding the holding Center and the actual sequence of incidents happened there.

In the sequence of incidents happened on 18th July, inmates complained of bad health and asked for medical help during mid-morning. The jail authorities called a team of doctors and sent them in the Center along with some police personals. When the team entered into the Holding Center, the few inmates attacked them and made them hostage under a well-planned conspiracy. The inmates further tried to blast the gas cylinder and kill the hostage held doctors and other staff. They further attacked the in charge office of the holding Center and made them hostages too. The situation at the center became uncontrollable and authorities have to fire the tear gas to disperse the violent crowd. Meanwhile, the baby girl died in hospital and she was on ventilator at the time of her death.

But the reason for her death was intentionally reported false. According to the doctors, police and civil administration, the baby was not keeping well since she was born. She was suffering some illness and was undergoing treatment. But she was denied feeding by the mastermind of the attack named Noor Mustafa. Noor Mustafa was radicalizing the inmates against India and was demanding freedom for free movement, he appealed all the inmates not eat the food being provided by the authorities. He instigated the inmates to protest against the authorities and do not accept meal provided by the government. The inmates along with the feeding mother of the baby were forced to go on hunger strike by Noor Mustafa. He even denied the baby to feed on her mother so that he could use her to create a violent scene and malign the India’s image at the international platform. According to the official sources he along with his teammates tried to create a ruckus during the G-20 summit in Jammu and Kashmir.

The holding center is not a prison.  The 272 Rohingyas kept there for deportation back to Myanmar. They are provided protection by the police department, food, and medical help by the social welfare department and district administration takes care of other things. The official authorities have asserted that the story carried by The Wire and other media houses are biased and an attempt to defame India internationally and has manufactured facts which are far away from the actual situation occurred on the ground. The death of the baby is used to push some hidden agenda of maligning the India’s image at the international platform. Further, the report stated that the parents of the baby along with other family members were handcuffed and stated that it is against the law citing that police have no authority to handcuff innocent people. But, they were not innocent, Police don’t want to repeat same mistake, like holding center, so as precautionary measure, Police handcuffed the inmates who attended last rights of the baby.
