Commuters travelling on the National Highway 44 Jammu Kashmir facing nightmarish experience as they are saying that they are stuck up in the chronic traffic Jams for several hours. In wake of bumper to bumper traffic Jams on Ramban stretch particularly the commuters are facing insurmountable hardships but the administration allegedly failed to restore the hassle free movement.
Given the Vacations in the educational institutions people from Jammu in particular embark on journey with their families to scenic Kashmir to enjoy their vacations. But due to the traffic Jams this has spoilsport for the commuters. Prominent RTI Activist Balwinder singh stuck up in the Traffic Jams and while giving vent to his anger shared the video on the News portal. He divulged that at 9 AM from Jammu he travelled and it’s 6 PM still stuck up in Ramban which is really astonished.
Taking a dig against the LG administration who beaten the trumpet this arduous Journey which used to take more than 10 hours prior but now hardly take four hours but their tall claims vanish in thin air, RTI activist Balwinder expressed her anger and while lashes out at the LGs administration for their lackadaisical attitude which compounded the miseries of the gullible masses.
“He further lamented that commuters stuck in the Jams but it is intriguing aspect neither from the administration nor Police present on the spot. He divulged that he made a call to the DC but his phone was busy adding, when made call to the Dysp he expressed his helplessness over the dearth of staff” he regretted while training guns against the administration for putting the women’s, old aged, small children who drink milk to hardships. What is the mistake of the commuters? he asked.
Mohinder, who stuck up with his family at Ramban divulged that Amarnath yatra is also round the corner. The moot question how come the administration then regulate the traffic. When at this crucial juncture they miserably failed to regulate the movement. “There are several families who caught in a traffic Jams having small children’s with them and they are running short of their essentials. Commuters left in lurch by the administration. Never ever prior such traffic jams being seen in my life as I used to traveled to kashmir in vacations. Administration needs to fix the lapses which are responsible for this gridlock and bottleneck before it’s too late as already the commuters losing patience with each passing day”, he rued. “This traffic Jams has become a cause of concern for the reason that since past several weeks it has been heard that better would be not to commute on the Jammu Kashmir NH 44 due to the Traffic Jams. But commuters have to commute as there are summer vacations and they have go for excursion with their families to spend time outside. But administration failure we can say which resulted in such chaotic situation that gullible commuters have to face with no fault of theirs”, Shweta, a local of Jammu avers.
“As the videos on the social media gone viral that the traffic Jams on the highway this would also affect the tourist footfall to Kashmir. Because during vacations tourists as well as people from Jammu prefers to visit Kashmir as such administration prior made such arrangements that the commuters don’t face inconvenience”, she maintained. “I have made plan with my Family to go to Kashmir before the Amarnath yatra but now it came to fore queue of traffic jams on NH 44 left the commuters high and dry”, Yasir, local of Jammu city lamented, now we postponed the same due to long traffic Jams as with family and children’s it would be Herculean task to travel on the Highway “he asserted.

DC Ramban couldn’t be contacted for his official version. SSP National Highway Rohit Baskotra when contacted in order to ascertained the reason behind the traffic jams. He said that as you well aware about the National Highway project is going on in full swing resultant there in there takes place obstruction in the free flow of traffic. “Rather there are Slide prone areas also no doubt on the Ramban district”, the SSP vehemently divulged adding, but main reason for the traffic Jams are the breakdown of the vehicles. Due to break down of the vehicles we make use of the cranes in order to lift the vehicles resultant there in it cause the traffic Jams for 2-3 hours” SSP responded to the query of the scribe in question. SSP National Highway further elaborated that as the commuters don’t have patience to commute and they do overtaking of vehicles meaning there by commuters don’t wait and this resulted in long serpentine two -three queue. This is the reason also behind the chronic traffic Jams. We will take penal action against the violators”, he asserted. On being asked as you know Holy Amarnath yatra starts from next month, what measures your department has taken so far in order ensure hassle free movement of the vehicle’s, SSP Rohit lamented that already the district administration are on job to ensure hassle free movements of the devotees of the Amarnath rather we ensure that the commuters don’t face any inconvenience. Even our department also making every effort to ensure that commuters not stuck up in Jams”, he categorically stated. SSP reiterated that main reason for the Traffic Jams are the breakdown of the vehicles on the NH. To a query that as educational institutions are closed across the Jammu as such families are embark on excursion to Kashmir coupled with it has become the talk of the town that don’t prefer travel by road. So what you would say which restore confidence in commuters and ensure that the commuters can commute on the NH without any fear, SSP National Highway said as you well aware being a media person that every day we issue an advisory where in it has been specifically mentioned about the timings of the LMVs, Heavy and commercial vehicle to commute on the NH coupled with also inform when is the NH Closed. So, as such there is not any need to worry for the commuters rather they can follow the advisory issued by the Traffic department and that is for their safety and convenience”, SSP Rohit maintained.
